I’m reaching out to share a cause that’s close to our hearts, one that we’re deeply passionate about and committed to making a success. On August 23-24, 2024, Passion of Hope International (PHI) will be hosting the Ndhiwa B Healthy Day, an event dedicated to providing essential medical care to over 4,000 residents in rural western Kenya.
For the past three years, Ndhiwa B Healthy Day has been a beacon of hope, transforming the lives of individuals who otherwise have limited access to healthcare. This event is more than just a medical camp—it’s a lifeline that has brought health and hope to a community in desperate need. From infants to the elderly, every age group has benefited from the care provided during this event, making it a critical intervention in a region where medical services are often out of reach.
This year, PHI is proud to take an active role in this initiative, working alongside our collaborator, Phoebe Odhiambo Owino. Phoebe, who has served as an Executive Public Health Nurse at the Center for Disease Control Foundation and the Boston Public Health Commission, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to this cause. Together, we aim to make this year’s event even more impactful than before—but we can’t do it without your support.
Our Mission: Empowering Wellness, One Check-up at a Time
The objectives of the Ndhiwa B Healthy Day are clear and focused on creating long-term health improvements in the community:
Health Education and Awareness: We are committed to providing vital health education many residents would otherwise never receive. By raising awareness of critical health issues, we empower individuals to take control of their well-being.
Free Medical Care and Consultation: Offering accessible medical care is at the heart of our mission. Our team of healthcare professionals will provide free consultations and diagnoses, ensuring that no one is left behind due to financial barriers.
Community Health Assessment: By identifying common health and social problems within the community, we can devise effective strategies to address these issues in partnership with local and international health organizations.
NHIF Education: We are dedicated to educating the community about the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), highlighting its importance in securing long-term healthcare access.
Infectious and Lifestyle Diseases Awareness: With the rise of both infectious and lifestyle diseases, our campaign will increase public awareness across all age groups and social classes, promoting preventive measures.
Personal Health Responsibility: It is crucial to encourage participants to take responsibility for their health. We aim to sensitize the community on the importance of precaution and proactive health management.
Healthcare Practitioner Exposure: This event also serves as a platform for healthcare practitioners to gain valuable experience and give back to society. It’s an opportunity for professionals to make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Multi-sectoral Collaboration: Finally, we seek to foster collaboration among various sectors, working together to improve social services and healthcare standards in Ndhiwa.
