JIIMARISHE HONEY PROJECT
The Jiimarishe Honey Project empowers residents of marginalized communities in Kenya by creating multiple income streams from their own land through apiculture. Besides the honey, the presence of the bees also helps to catalyze the growth of fruit trees and garden produce to feed the family and the remaining produce is sold for income.
In 2021, PHI did a pilot project with 20 farmers in Gilgil, Kenya. The collaborative venture with the farmers resulted in as much as a five-fold increase in income for the farmers. This increase in income was initiated first be capturing rainwater for consumption and for agriculture. Beekeeping contributed to financial resilience and improved the overall well-being of their families. Beneficiaries included a significant percentage of elderly women and persons living with disabilities.
CURRENT CAMPAIGN
I’m reaching out to share a cause that’s close to our hearts, one that we’re deeply passionate about and committed to making a success. On August 23-24, 2024, Passion of Hope International (PHI) will be hosting the Ndhiwa B Healthy Day, an event dedicated to providing essential medical care to over 4,000 residents in rural western Kenya.
