PHI Kenya Impact Areas

PHI Kenya works to improve the quality of life, promote social equity, and empower marginalized communities in Kenya to lead healthier and more sustainable lives.

Programs implemented:

Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

  • Trained community members on water conservation storage and treatment for domestic use.

  • Installed RWH systems to 20 households and assessed 15 ready for system installation.

  • Mobilized and recruited 4 new social groups (61 Members) to address social challenges.

  • Initiated strategic alignment and partnerships with potential stakeholders (Aqua Clara Intl).

Livelihood

  • Trained farmers on organic and regenerative farming, enabling them to make informed decisions and behavior change.

  • Initiated strategic alignments and partnerships with potential partners – Conversation ongoing (Bio-Vision Africa Trust).

  • Initiated orchard farming, kitchen garden, and agroforestry to farmers – training, educating, and handholding them ongoing.

  • Distributed and installed four (4) more water pans for grey water harvesting.

  • Initiated the process of co-operative formation and registration.

Education

  • School mobilization and baseline assessment on adopt a school project initiated.

  • Continuous engagement with beneficiary schools on possible new project collaboration.

  • Positive engagement with the Ministry of Education at the county and sub-county level especially on child protection.

Health

  • The medical facility is still operational and provides essential health services to community members.

  • Reduce the number of staff at the clinic from 5 to 2 due to high logistical expenses and economic constraints in Kenya affecting sales.

  • The hospital has received the MFL Code which means we are now allowed to collect health data and share it with sub-county health offices.

IMPACT NUMBERS FOR NAKURU HUB

41 people trained in WASH reaching 246 community members

215 crude honey harvested and 154kg of pure honey processed

Over 300,000m3 liters of water were collected at the household level for domestic use

More than 1041 tree
seedlings distributed to
community members

62 beehives colonized

Installed WASH systems in 20 households and identified15 additional households
