Empowering Women
Researchers at the African Development Bank have determined that African women are among the most hardworking, but least privileged in terms of income and opportunities. Because they are frequently excluded from formal financial services, they must become entrepreneurs by default. No wonder the prevalence of table banking or chamas, where women pool their money to lend amongst themselves.
PHI Invests in women’s economic empowerment by leveraging the resources of these informal networks to improve their lives. Our approach creates a direct path towards gender parity, poverty eradication, better education and health for children, and economic growth based on the collective.
